The Stalingrad "pot." Confession of Colonel Wehrmacht
These memoirs, long ago included in the "golden fund" of German memoirs about the war on the Eastern Front, are a true confession of a Wehrmacht officer. Colonel Luitpold Steidle (1898-1984) fought against the Red Army from June 22, 1941 until the surrender at Stalingrad, where he commanded the 767th Grenadier Regiment of the 376th Infantry Division (376th Infanterie-Division). In his book, he told in great detail about the invasion of the USSR, the heaviest battles of 1941-1942, the brutal battle for Stalingrad, how around the army of Paulus closed the ring of encirclement and how the German troops painfully "boiled" in the Stalingrad "cauldron".
