    Early Years


    Alecia Beth Moore was born September 8th, 1979 near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a child, she exhibited rebellious tendencies, which were intensified by her parents’ divorce. Moore developed her voice with a high school band, and continued writing moody songs after their breakup. By 14, she was dancing and singing on the nightclub circuit, and was caught in a world of partying and drugs.

    Around this time, Moore adopted the stage name Pink, which was rumored to be a tribute to a character in the film “Reservoir Dogs.” In 1995, Pink landed a record deal as part of the R&B trio Choice; however, the group dissolved before their debut saw the light of day.

    Debut Album


    It was time for Pink to go solo, and in 2000 she unveiled Can't Take Me Home. Hit singles like “There You Go” and “Most Girls” eventually propelled the record to double-platinum status, and earned her a spot opening for 'Nsync on their No Strings Attached tour.

    Alecia Beth Moore-Hart (née Moore; born September 8, 1979), known professionally as Pink (stylized as P!nk), is an American singer and songwriter. She is known for her rock-influenced pop songs, powerful contralto voice, and activism.

    At the age of 15, Pink formed the short-lived girl group Choice, who signed with LaFace Records in 1995, although they disbanded without any major releases.[1] Her first solo studio album, Can't Take Me Home (2000) was released to commercial success and received double platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Produced by label boss Babyface and influenced by contemporary R&B, the album spawned two Billboard Hot 100-top ten singles: "There You Go" and "Most Girls". Pink gained further recognition for her 2001 collaborative single "Lady Marmalade" (with Christina Aguilera, Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Mýa), which was released for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack and peaked atop 13 international charts including the US, and earned her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
