Library Space and Content Management for a Networked Society

The creative designing of space for conserving and utilizing recorded knowledge – content – has passed through dramatic and drastic changes from the days in which human beings inscribed their experiences in the cave walls to the present day as we store and retrieve content from cloud space or walk through virtual space seeking knowledge. It was in January 2012 that we decided to conduct an international conference at DVK Central Library. We started the theme discussion with experts in India and abroad. After several rounds of discussions, we decided that the theme should concentrate on actual crises that the present day librarians face. Although there were several burning issues, finally we chose on the theme related to Space and Content Management. Space and Content are interdependent and existential requirements of the library. The drastic changes in the Content demand systematic and creative modification of Space. Managing the Space and Content in Library for a Networked Society is a challenge for librarians, institutions and library designers.
